First Meeting?

Last Thursday (3-Apr-2008) could have been the first unofficial meeting of the Cincinnati Curling Club. Unofficial because it was held in Brockville, ON and it included none of the members from the Yahoo Groups page (http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/cinci-curling/). However, I did have the pleasure of hosting about 22 P&G employees from Cincinnati in a learn to curl / team building session. I could not believe the enthusiasm and competitive spirit of the players. It was interesting to see that most of the people had seen the sport on TV via the Olympics. As a side note, I'll never understand why a broadcaster won't jump on board. By the end of the evening everyone was asking, "Where can I do this in Cinci?" The quick answer is, "Indy or Columbus. Maybe Oxford if Miami University will let you on their ice in the near future but there is still nothing official set in place. Making the 2 hour drive to Columbus or Indianapolis does sound like a big trip and maybe a car pooling arrangement can be made so that more curlers can get to enjoy this wonderful sport.
